?Bad habits? encompasses several different types of behavior?including poor manners, poor nutrition, and over or under eating. Some habits are just that?habits. You can help your children work through these habits in a variety of ways, and some will be easier to break than others. Following are a few common problems, and some commonsense solutions:

1.Table manner troubles: From talking with a mouthful to eating with their fingers, kid?s table habits can make you cringe. There are a few things you can do to help work through these issues. First, make sure you are modeling the behavior you want to see in your child. If the rule is ?don?t talk with your mouth full?, then don?t talk with your mouth full. Kids learn what they see?so be sure that ?bad habit? isn?t just a miniature version of something you do yourself! Another great way to help younger children is to play ?restaurant? for a day, and act as the waiter, chef, and manners coach. Chances are, this role playing will bring out the best manners, and provide you with a valuable teaching opportunity.

2.Eating only junk food: There are two ways to cut down on the junk. First, simply don?t buy it, or don?t buy as much of it. Once you limit the supply, you automatically cut down on the amount of junk your kids can consume. Next, offer healthy, but tasty alternatives. Kids that are plowing through a bag of chips in one setting may enjoy something else with crunch, like whole grain pretzels. Don?t be afraid to be sneaky?there are several books available that detail how to sneak healthy foods into appealing snacks that mimic ?junkfood?.

3.Eating only a single food or food group: This is most often a problem with the toddler set?they can get hooked on one particular food or food group. With any luck, they will outgrow the fixation?eating only cheese for a day or so won?t hurt them?but eating only cheese for a few weeks could. If you can, determine what appeals to them about the item they are focused on. It could be temperature, taste, texture, or some other quality. A child who wants to eat bananas all day may be craving something sweet?or something that is easy to chew. Offering substitutions and other choices at each meal can help break the pattern.

4.Avoiding vegetables: Fear of broccoli isn?t just for kids?most adults don?t eat enough veggies either! Make sure you are offering vegetable choices at each meal?and make them appealing. A plate of grey, limp green beans isn?t going to appeal to anyone?but a green bean casserole can disappear pretty quickly in most homes. You can also consider making a ?one bite? rule?as in everyone needs to take just one bite of everything offered. Doing this can help your child learn to like a variety of foods, and still give them the choice of declining if it is something they truly don?t like.

Some eating habits are easy to change?and some are more challenging. Toddlers and young children can be passionate about something one day, and completely forget it the next. Offering a variety of healthy foods, and eating seated at the table can help eliminate many of the bad eating habits you may be observing, and help your child be a healthy, hearty eater for life.

Many women and men out there are facing the challenges of being a single parent. Definitely, they did not mean that to happen. Being human, we made mistakes that have a lifetime consequences for us to face. We cannot turn our backs on it but to face those consequences firmly and squarely. That includes raising our kids on our own.

Singe-parents can still raise their kids well with these child rearing tips:

? When you?re child is starting to ask you why their mom or dad is not living with you, carefully explain the reasons to him. Do not try to get on the gorgy details instead give him the facts that kids like him can understand. Usually, single parents talk cruelly to their partners, not realizing the effect it has on kids. Do not create hatred or resentment in your kids. The situations are already too much for them. Be a good model for good behavior and proper actions for them. When they grow up they can make their own opinion for both parents.

? One of the child rearing tips when you are considering a new marriage, is to make sure your kids love and respect your future spouse. Do not expect them to easily accept the situation. Listen to their opinions with you getting married with someone they barely knew. Make them understand that your new partner will love them too as much as you love them.

? Let other people help you. Do not think you can take care of everything alone. Let your parents, if they are still alive, help you raise your kids. Instead of hiring a nanny, a relative, will make your child feel at ease. They can feel secure because they know well who are taking care of them in behalf of you. If you do not have any relatives you can rely on, choose a day care facility in your area that has a good reputation. When you decide to hire a nanny instead, choose someone who has good references.

? Show your children that you love them everyday. Though, you are the only parent they have, you can give them the love they need. Gestures like hugging them before sleep, complimenting their works, cooking their favorite foods and joining them to watch their favorite TV shows, will make them feel sheltered.

? Let your kids participate in your decisions concerning them. In this way, your kids will be more responsible individuals. At an early age you are training them to think of the best for them. As a single parent, share them what is going on and let them suggest what they feel about it. It will also strengthen your bond as a family.

Truly, being a single parent requires a great deal of strength but it is also rewarding. In the end your kids will recognize how wonderful you are as their parent. In their turn to become a parent, they will surely ask for your child rearing tips and apply it on their family.

As one of the many parents in the world, you are deeply concern of training your kids the best way. You would want them to get close to you and listen to your advices when they grow up. This is only possible if you build a good parent-child relationship. You might want to be acquainted with the best child rearing techniques for your kids.

In disciplining our kids, one must comprehend that it is not about the punishment. The resort of parents nowadays, is to spank their kids whenever they do things wrongly. I am not saying it is completely wrong, but as parents we should show our kids love and compassion even when we are disciplining them. Of course, kids can sometimes hard headed and too stubborn to obey us. Explain to them their wrong doings, why it is wrong and why they should not do it again. After punishing them, give them a hug and tell them that you love them. Ask him if he understands what had happened and tell him how you hate punishing him. In this way, the kid won?t frighten you.

In talking with them, speak their language and on their level of understanding. Do not let them hear you speaking foul words. Teach them to speak with courtesy to any one. Control your voice and choose your words carefully. In this way, respect is formed between you and your child. When you want them to listen to what you are saying, do not intimidate them by standing over them. Instead, kneel or sit with them so you can have an eye contact. These will surely capture their attention without generating fear.

When you did something wrong to your kids, say sorry and mean it. As parents, we also have our limitations. We cannot avoid doing mistakes in front of our kids. The best manner is to say sorry. That what you did is in the wrong and they ought not to go after it. Not every one of parents can do this, inclination, the kids follow they parents wrongdoings. Parents cannot lecture on something if he himself is not doing it.

Remember to say thank you. Children?s confidence is uplifted whenever the parents show appreciation on what their kids done to them. Although some may find it hard to thank their kids, it is not too late to practice this habit. In a way, you are teaching your kids to become grateful to other people too.

There are more child rearing techniques that you might be thinking about but I just want to add one more point. Always be positive in dealing with your kids. Think positive that you can let them handle things on their own way. They will be responsible on what they are doing because they will always think of the trust you have on them. Do not always think that they will do wrong. With these child rearing techniques, think that you have done your part as parents and it is their turn to do their part.

No parent is an island.

This statement is true of parents who think of themselves as isolated parents from the rest of the society. Parenthood is already difficult enough not to be shared. More often than not, experiences and other people?s experiences are the best teachers.

Parenting advice is not something parents should dread about. When someone gives you parenting advice, it does not mean that you are the worst parent in the neighborhood. It is either that parent wants to share how he/ she raised his/ her kids or he/ she only wants to encourage you.

In the realm of parenting, no one can understand you better than other parents like you. They exactly know how parenting feels. Parents share the same emotions when their children gets high grades in class or if their children are hurt or bullied by a classmate. Parents also share the same frustrations over difficult children. You see, parenting in itself is also a community.

One important parenting advice is to learn to accept advices. This does not mean that you will absorb and do everything that everyone tells you. Hear everyone but select people who have wisdom to be listened to. Find a parent with the same situation and experiences that you have. Of course, there are no exact circumstances. This means that find a parent who has children with the same age as your children.

In addition, another valuable parenting advice is to listen to your children. Do not shun them away just because you are the parent and are in the authority. Your children are your mirrors as a parent. They emulate you, they run to you, they shun you away, etc. All of these are children?s reactions on how you raise them up. Listen to things that they say because if you do not listen to them, they will look for someone else that will listen to them. This is when they feel that the home is not a place where they can be themselves. Be careful when you get too busy and tight with your work thus ignoring what your children tell you.

Another parenting advice is that you are the parent and no one can take that away from you. This gives the challenge to you: you do not need to prove that you are in the actual authority- you have to practice it. This does not mean however that your children are not allowed to give their piece on something. No. This is just a reminder that no one can be the best parent to your children other than you.

Lastly, one of the most treasured parenting advices is that, good parents give the best of their time to their kids. When you become a parent, your world will revolve around your family- even if you have work outside the home. The important thing to remember is that giving and spending quality time with your kids is still the best expression of love that you can show them. All the time, they need your quality presence more than the gifts and material things that you shower them.

Skills that are obvious and known to men are: performing skills (like singing, dancing and acting), skills in painting, skills in sports, skills in Math, skills in cooking and in baking etc.

Like those skills mentioned above, raising up children is a mixture of the delicate balance between responsibility and skills.

There is such term as ?Parenting Skills?. Like those skills mentioned, parenting skills are also honed and enhanced. Skills in parenting however, is different. Parenting skills become required as soon as you become a parent. There is no such thing as ?Parenting is not my skill?. When you become a parent, you have to have this skill.

While there is no university, school or special classes that teach parents about parenting skills, skills in parenting can be learned. It is not something that you discover and voila? you are good at it. Parenting is more of practicing your responsibility as a parent in loving but practical means.

Parents? best teachers are indeed their day to day experiences as parents. Mistakes in parenting are very normal and usual especially for first time parents. First time parents feel all the anxiety, fear and worry about their children and their children?s future. Apprehensions and hold backs are normal for parents and again, most especially the first time parents. Simply said, parenting starts with, ?I really do not know what to do first.?

Parenting skills officially start when the baby comes out of your womb. Being a parent means you are the source of guidance, care and love to your children. Parenting skills also vary. There are those who are very creative, some are strict and total disciplinarians, others are so loose about their children while others are still nervous about their skills as parents.

Do not worry. Parenting skills take time and are not developed and enhanced over night. As your children grow, you also grow with them in essence. Parenting skills are not also transferable. No one can do the parenting best that you- because the main responsibility is given to you as parent. You cannot expect that your neighbor next door will be the parent for your children. Nor can you expect that your children?s teachers will become the main parent. Parenting skills start with you and in you.

Parenting skills are not something that is graded. No one can accuse you that you are a bad parent however, your children and who they will become in life is a big marker for you. How you have raised your children will reflect on the choices that they make in life, even if they are all grown up. Life has given you so much time to help shape your children?s future, so shape it in the best way.

While self help books and your parent friend?s advices are available for you, there is no blueprint for parenting. As mentioned above, experience is the best teacher. However, it is important also to seek advice from parents who are respected and reputable. No one is stopping you to imitate something that is worth looking out for.

Child rearing practices differ from one parent to another. Different child rearing practices lead to different child upbringing. It is one of the causes for individual differences. One is far different to another because of how he was brought up by his parents. We must learn the factors affecting these practices. To understand that each parents is special and all of them are good on their own way.

Social class has a great effect on child rearing practices. Parents that were raised in the middle class or upper class of the society tend to teach they kids of social etiquettes. They teach their kids to appreciate music, literature and more. They provide their kids with skills that they believe can help them on their future. They supervise that they kids get into the proper school, eat the right food and can have medical service in anytime. On the hand, parents who were raised from the working class, raise their kids on the way they see the world. They cannot even provide their kids with toys and other leisure moments. They have less time to spend with their children supervision because their jobs prevented them from doing so. A child who grows from the upper class of the society has more confidence than the one raise in the working class.

Income also affects child rearing practices. Parents who receive low income let their kids work at an early age. On the other side, wealthy parents have the connection in the world to make sure their children get the best jobs.

Religion has a role to play in raising kids. Christian parents can raise moral and spiritual children. Pastors and spiritual leaders share a part in molding their kids also. Parents let their spiritual beliefs, no matter what religion may it be, be reflected on how they raise their children.
The parent?s of the parents. How our parents were raised also add up. Mothers tend to follow their mother?s child rearing practices. The great factor here is how their mothers treat them. Likely, it is how they will also treat their children. They seemed to follow their mother?s action, whether it is good or bad. A mother that was raise by a disciplinarian mom will surely get strict with her own kids. Studies show that father?s do not follow they mother?s parenting practices.

Culture may play a part in one?s upbringing. A Japanese daughter is different from an American daughter. When one goes to another country, he can be easily notice because of his personality that resulted from his upbringing. Children across the world are definitely poles apart because culture has a role in defining one?s personality.

As parents, we must understand that our practices are different from our neighbors. We must try not to question their ways or elevate our self as better than them. These factors won?t categorize one parent as the best among the rest but simply imply that each parent is trying their best to raise best children on their own way.

Parenting is a complex activity the one must employ style in order to achieve a great result. These child rearing styles have an effect on the child well-being. It can predict what the child might be in the future. As parents or future parents we must comprehend these styles, so if we are going to employ these on our kids, we can get a vision of how are they going to be in the future. Based on the studies; child rearing style can be grouped in to four classification. It is vital that we realize how these child rearing styles can mold our children.

? Authoritarian style. Parents in this style set strict rules to be followed. They are always in control. Their kids have no other options but to follow what they parents dictated them to do. Parents in this style do not explain their actions to their children. They simply tell them ?Because I said so?. Children are scolded and punished whenever they break the rules. The results of this style on kids are somewhat not desirable. Children, though they perform well on school, have low esteem and poor social skills. They feel they are always walking on the tight rope. One mistake and they will get punish.

? Authoritative style. In these parents are more lenient than the authoritarian style. They give rules to their children to follow but they still let their kids explore. Instead of punishing their kids, their disciplinary methods do not mean for their kids to feel bad about themselves. They carefully explain to they kids the consequences if they do not follow the rule. They let their kids to be assertive and dependable adults. Kids in this style are socially competent and can make choice for them. this is also called ?balance parenting?

? Permissive style. This type of style produces parents that are more soft that the democratic style. They are non traditional and often avoids confrontation on their kids. They are very involved in their kids but they do not try to control them. They do not require their kids to follow such rules for fear of rebellion. Parents who follow their child’s every wishes and no desire to contradict their way. Children who grew up with this style are bossy, self-centered and uncooperative. They are also used to get what they want and often results to trouble.

? Uninvolved parenting styles. Parents who use this style focus more on them selves and not on their kids. They don?t seem to care about their children. They separate themselves with their kids and neglect their responsibilities. Their children tend to resort on drugs and experience depression and social withdrawal. They have low esteem and usually are immature. The offspring will also feel bitterness towards their parents.

You might see yourself using one of these child rearing styles. If you do not want the results of such style, there is still an ample time for you to change your ways. One must be careful in choosing you style; it will definitely dictates your kids? future.

Having a classroom rug may not seem like a necessity to some, but teachers know that a classroom rug can be a their best friend. Classroom rugs are typically about 4 feet by 5 feet and can be placed in any classroom. To the teacher, a classroom carpet is one of the most versatile items to have available. Here are some or its many uses.

Create a Room within a Room

Classroom rugs can provide a room within a room. This means that the teacher has a space that is measured out, well defined, and easy for kids to identify. A simple, ?Please sit on the carpet? request by a teacher means that students know exactly where to go. Since the design of a carpet outlines itself, children know the boundaries. Sitting on the carpet means that students can easily and quickly be sent to one area where further instruction can take place.

Provide a More Personal Setting

Sometimes classrooms can feel impersonal with students sitting at their own desks in their own area. This is needed for some classroom instruction, testing, and other individual activities. But- to bring the class together in a personal setting, the classroom carpet is the ideal place. Students can sit in rows on the rug for story time or sit around the rug for discussion time or an educational game. Classroom rugs become a memory building space for students to get to know each other and the teacher just a little bit better.

Classroom Rugs Create an Area of Separation

For some students, getting some alone time or space from other students is necessary. Having a classroom carpet gives teachers a well defined, outlined, safe area to send a student that needs some momentary space. Teachers can ask a student to ?go take a breather? on the carpet and the student can easily understand what he is supposed to do.

Educational Opportunities

There are many different classroom rugs available that are educational. Such rugs as the ABC Caterpillar Rug, Fishing for Literacy Rug, and the Pond Carpet can be used as educational tools. While sitting on the rug, teachers can ask students what letter they are sitting on and then ask them to name things that start with that letter. Teachers can have students line up and hop on the letters that spell their name. The ideas and creative learning moments are endless with classroom rugs of this kind.

A Place For Expression

Some classroom rugs have symbols and signs that allow children to express their feelings and teachers to express their pride in students. For example, there is a Signs of Emotions Rug that allows students to stand or sit on the emotion they are feeling and the teacher can then help the child talk about those emotions. I also like the Motivational Mat Carpet that allows a teacher to send a student who has made a good choice or accomplished a task to the carpet to stand on the thumbs up or smiley face. Giving students a creative way to express themselves is invaluable to teachers.

Any classroom can benefit from a classroom carpet. Teachers and students alike will love the versatility and many options that classroom rugs provide. These rugs truly can become a teacher?s best friend.

Day care furniture is used at day care centers. Since they are for kids there are a lot of safety features that you need to pay heed on before selecting them. Kids always playing around carelessly and there are chances that they may fall over the furniture or may topple over them. Hence utmost care for selecting the safest and weight less furniture having no sharp edges is required. The day care furniture need to be selected by the size of kids so that they can comfortably reach them and use it without risk of injury.

There are a lot of designs and styles available in the market under various categories such as tables, chairs, cribs, diaper changing stations, book stands, storage units, step stools, lockers, cubbies, portable sinks etc. While selecting the color scheme for such furniture the most pertinent choice of colors would be bright colors such as red, yellow and blue. Bright colors are very attractive to children and they love them. Various day care furniture pieces are explained as follows:

? Tables: Day care tables are usually very low and contain no sharp edges. Tables are a piece of furniture where kids would spend most of their time either eating or doing creative works like drawing, painting, writing etc.

? Chairs: Chairs are a place of resting for the little ones. Hence the chairs need to be comfortable and easy for them to sit upon as well as stand from it.

? Cribs: The infants and toddler can be laid for sleeping in cribs. While selecting cribs make sure that the upholstery as well as the beds is soft and comfortable for them.

? Diaper changing stations: The Diaper changing stations is another important piece of furniture in a day care centre and is used to change diapers. The diaper changing stations need to be kept clean and tidy so as to avoid transmitting diseases.

? Book Stands: The book stands are used to stuff books for the little ones to use. Book stands are similar to a small library containing books.

? Storage Units: The little ones need storage units for storing their belongings. This space can be provided through the Storage units that can be made to at their size.

? Step stools: The little ones would love to use step stools to explore and climb on to reach new heights. While selecting step stools for the little ones make sure that it has got a strong base.

? Lockers: Lockers are place where the kids can keep their personal items. The lockers would have key to make it safer and secure.

? Cubbies: Cubbies are storage area for kids. The cubbies can be used to store the kid?s toys and tools.

? Portable Sinks: The portable sinks are very beneficial in keeping hygiene in the day care centre. Portable sinks can be easily placed and used for washing hands.

Kris Starliper used to spend many years working in his wood shop building various pieces of day care furniture for local day cares in his hometown. Now he has retired from wood working, and likes to write about his experience with creating preschool furniture, such as baby cribs and portable sinks.
