What do people when they say our kids need better sex education?
When I was kid, we learned these things in sex ed in grade school I believe:
- Pregnancy is the natural result of having sex.
- You can get STDs from sex.
- Condoms, when used properly, greatly reduce the chance of becoming pregnant and diminish the chance of contracting certain STDs, and prevent others.
- Birth control pills, spermicides, etc. are available to lessen the chance of pregnancy.
- “Pulling out” is risky and stupid.
- There are morning after pills you can take.
- The only way to 100% guarantee you will not become pregnant is to not have sex or get yourself sterilized, or have a partner who has been sterilized.

So, my question is what else do people think kids need to learn in school? If that isn’t enough for a kid, then, IMO, that kid is a dumbass and I’m not sure additional education would even help. What else do the kids need? And if parents are worried that their kids are not getting enough sex education, why don’t they teach them themselves or buy them a book about it?
What I learned seemed enough. I never got knocked up like a moron, and all my male peers knew what condoms were.
Are they teaching kids differently today, or are kids just more stupid/lazy and don’t care?

“I graduated in 2006 and all we learned was abstience is the only safe method to prevent pregnancy and stds,”
It is the safest method. No lies here. No one who practices abstinence gets pregnant.
“we were taught pulling out is stuid and risky, condoms are very likey to break and will not prevent some stds,”
Pulling out is stupid and risky. Condoms can break and do not always prevent you from getting some STDs. While I disagree that condoms are “very likely” to break, they can.
“and we didn’t even cover other types of birth control. It’s no wonder I got pregnant at 15″
No one prevented you from picking up a book or using Google in case you weren’t sure about something. You were free to ask your parents about birth control. If they didn’t let you have it and you had sex anyway and got pregnant, that is still your fault. No one forced you to spread your legs, don’t blame others for your stupidity. Unless you were raped, its YOUR fault you got pregnant
I thought showing kids what it is like to have to care for a kid would help with stuff, but now that minors can get abortions without parental consent, it wouldn’t help since if they get pregnant they can just abort.
I guess I just don’t understand why parents are not teaching their children about sex if its such a big issue.
If I felt my kid wasn’t learning enough about math, I wouldn’t just let them continue learning nothing and bitch to the school about it. I’d teach them about math on my own time.

George Carlin 70 years old but still as quick witted as ever. I found this particular talk about over parenting very true and something that all parents should watch and give thought to – as a parent myself I have seen this at the soccer field and in the attitudes of the teachers at my children' s schools. It' s sickening, what' s worse is that they' re are not creating good children who
