?Before I got married I had six theories about bringing up children; now I have six children and no theories.?
John Wilmot (Earl of Rochester)

This quotation is quite popular. In fact it is as popular as happiness of having a newborn. After long waiting, finally our beloved ones arrive and makes us real parents. Happy and probably a little bit scared with arrival of new human being, we experience how fragile it is. Even if we have read a lot on parenting (and we did!) and have even more tips passed by word of out mothers and other people who are close to us we do not always conscious that these advices are based on a personal experiences. Having in mind that each and every baby is different we have took time and gathered 10 best, practical tips to keep your newborn safe.

Never leave your baby in alone, in a one-on-one type of contact with your pet and it does not matter is it hamster, dog or cat. I guess I do not need to say nothing about any kind of birds or… snakes.

Truly. Leave the airplay game (throwing your baby up in the air) for someone else. You as a cautious and smart parent take your baby with care and that means also no to any kind of shaking.

Be sure your baby is within a safe distance. Does no matter are you hovering the room or spending your time in park. Stay concentrated on what your baby does as it can be just starting to do something what you could consider as dangerous. I would like to keep you safe and calm, yet you should know that kidnappers go after babies because they can be easily grabbed. Just stay alert in public places and cautious at your home, you know how dangerous are irons.

When it comes to bath be sure you have ant-slide mattress or towel in your bathtub

Get a durable and high quality baby seat for your car. If you are driving, pay attention to… driving. You can take a quick look on baby when you are waiting for the green light, but stay concentrated on driving as your baby is ok in her/his seat and driving safely is your main task.

Avoid any strings attached to your baby’s toys. Keep the phone cord, modem cables and all the other dangerous things away from reach of your baby as it have a tendency to grab on those things and as you fully realize this is pretty dangerous.

Open windows, balconies and staircases… all of them are dangerous if you do not watch all the time and as it is not easy it is better to keep your baby away.

If you need a baby-sitter make sure the person is at least 16 years. If it is not just for one night then of course preferably older with not only experience but also a training in infant safety and CPR. Be sure to check references.

Watch out and simply never leave your baby alone in a place with children aged six or less. They simply tend to play game in which your baby maybe a doll and even if that is pretty cruel it is true.

Babies are masters in rolling. They can do it very fast so be extremely cautious when you change your baby on table or in any other situation like that. A small distraction can cost you a lot of stress and even more, can be cause of pain for your fragile infant.

Even if you are great and caring person there is always possibility that something can happen as not everything in this world depends on you. That is why the best place for these 10 tips on keeping your baby safe is in your head… perfectly memorized.
